I think that there is something about wood that sets it apart from other media. It has a warmth and a feel that is just not found in stone, metal or even paint.  Even though a piece of wood has been cut, dried and allowed to sit on a shelf for a year or more, I can still feel its life as soon as I pick it up. When I turn a piece of wood, my primary goal is to preserve and release that warmth, feel and life.  And, if I’m really fortunate, I just might enhance those  attributes.

                                                             About the wood
All of the wood used in these pieces was either “rescued” from the side of the road following wind damage, was collected after responsible trimming or was plantation grown for the expressed purpose of woodworking.  Some of the wood was collected from an animal reserve in South Africa after the trees were knocked down by elephants.

                                                             About the finish
All of the pieces are finished using natural resins, oils and waxes and are all safe for contact with food.  However, if you are kind enough to purchase a piece, I would strongly suggest that you do not use it for direct food contact.  The carnauba wax finish will be compromised by washing and the piece will lose its luster and become quite dull.  Wrapped candy is fine.
